Reel to reel tapes, transcripts of tapes, and related transcription materials, of a collection including 41 oral history interviews sponsored by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies, Brigham Young University, in cooperation with the Utah State Historical Society and the City of Monticello, Utah. Gary Shumway, professor of Western American history, California State University at Fullerton, served as project director with Brigham Young University students as interviewers. Interviewees were selected in consultation with community leaders in Monticello. Interviews document the memories of early San Juan County settlers relating to frontier and pioneer life in Southeastern Utah.
